Ollie joined Beauchamp & Bird as an apprentice with a clear ambition: to build a lasting career in plumbing and heating. Right from the start, Ollie brought with him a great attitude, a willingness to learn, and a genuine enthusiasm for the trade. It’s these qualities that have helped him go from strength to strength, transforming from a determined apprentice into a highly capable and valued member of our team.
Apprenticeships are about more than just learning technical skills – they’re about growing into a role, understanding the culture of a business, and gaining hands-on experience that simply can’t be taught in a classroom. From day one, Ollie immersed himself in every opportunity available. Whether it was assisting on complex commercial projects or mastering the basics on domestic installs, he always approached the task with energy and professionalism.
Over the course of his apprenticeship, Ollie successfully completed his City & Guilds Level 3 Plumbing & Heating qualification, a milestone achievement that represents both dedication and a significant level of technical knowledge. Balancing on-site experience with classroom learning isn’t easy, but Ollie handled the challenge with maturity and resilience.
As part of our commitment to ongoing development, we provided Ollie with guidance, mentorship, and varied site experience – from plant room installations to routine maintenance work – giving him a broad and practical understanding of the real-world plumbing and heating industry.
Ollie hasn’t slowed down since completing his Level 3. In fact, he’s now in the final stages of gaining his Gas Safe certification, which he’s set to complete by May. This next step is a significant milestone, enabling him to work independently on gas appliances and heating systems – an essential qualification for anyone looking to build a long-term, professional career in our field.
Gaining gas certification is no small feat. It requires a deep understanding of gas safety regulations, fault diagnosis, appliance servicing, and installation practices – all critical elements in ensuring our work not only meets industry standards but also protects our clients and their properties.
Ollie’s focus, organisation, and attention to detail have been key in his preparation for this next step. We have every confidence that he’ll pass with flying colours and continue to build on his already impressive capabilities.
Now fully equipped with his own van and tools, Ollie has stepped into a more independent role within the company, taking on a growing number of projects across London and the Home Counties. Whether it’s a heating system installation for a commercial site or a plumbing repair for a valued client, Ollie is now out on the road, delivering quality work under the Beauchamp & Bird name.
