Project Summary

We recently completed the replacement of an 80-meter gas supply run for a school in Woodford, addressing a severely corroded existing line. Due to site constraints, a surface-level reroute was not an option. Instead, we carefully utilised the original underground route.

New copper pipework was installed along this route, then painted to provide enhanced corrosion resistance and ensure long-term durability.

Challenges & Solutions

Working in a live school environment required a highly coordinated and safety-conscious approach. Key measures included:

• Continuous air quality monitoring to detect any harmful gases
• Ventilation systems to maintain safe air circulation
• Two-way radios for real-time team communication
• Temporary site lighting to improve visibility
• Raised working platforms for safe access to confined or elevated workspaces

Outcome

Despite the logistical complexities and confined nature of the site, the project was delivered efficiently, with:

• Full compliance with health and safety standards
• Minimal disruption to the school’s daily operations
• A robust and future-proofed gas supply system
